Pesa Pay is building the next generation of mobile money infrastructure for East Africa. We process millions of transactions monthly and are growing fast. We're looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to help us scale our core payments platform.

✅ Responsibilities

Design and build core payment processing services. Lead architecture decisions for high-throughput, low-latency systems. Mentor junior engineers and conduct code reviews. Collaborate with product, design, and compliance teams.

📋 Requirements

5+ years of backend engineering experience. Strong Python skills (Django or FastAPI). Production experience with PostgreSQL and Redis. Deep understanding of distributed systems. Experience with payment systems or financial APIs.

⭐ Nice to Have

Mobile money or fintech background. AWS / GCP certifications. Open source contributions. Experience scaling teams.
